  • Your own copy of the Lucid template

Templates

This workshop takes place entirely on Lucid. Make sure to duplicate this template for you and your team.

You must first create your own copy of the lucid board by hovering over the document name and selecting "duplicate".

Facilitator Notes

This workshop includes facilitator notes which provide guidance for each activity. Facilitator notes will provide guidance on time, debrief questions for each activity, and tips for guiding the experience. They are not a script - we encourage you to lead the experience with your own personal flair and style!

Step-by-Step

  • Review the experiences in the Lucid board and decide if you will run the workshop in one or two experiences.
  • Create your own copy of the lucid board by hovering over the document name and selecting "duplicate".
  • We recommend encouraging your participants to consider how diversity, inclusion and belonging plays a role in their work in advance of the workshop. This will help them come better prepared to share and discuss in the session.

It's important to run this experience in teams that have established a good level of psychological safety. Let them know in advance you'll be exploring topics of diversity and inclusion, which may be difficult or emotional conversations. Encourage participants to come with an open mind, and remind them that everyone is here with good intent. Let your team know they only need to share what they are comfortable with.

Introduce the experience as an opportunity to explore and discuss what diversity and inclusion mean for ourselves, our team, and our work. It is not meant to be judgemental. This experience is meant to be a tool for discussion, and an opportunity for teams to discuss diversity and inclusion in direct relation to their own work and their own impact, so welcome dialogue from the team and set the expectation that you as facilitator are also part of the discussion, not an expert on the topic.

For increased psychological safety, we do not recommend recording this experience.

  • We do not recommend recording this experience.
  • Break this workshop into two parts to allow space and time for consideration of what is being discussed.
  • Encourage participants to hide the cursors of other participants, which will allow more anonymity on comments.
  • As the facilitator, share your screen when you navigate to a new section to ensure everyone can find you. Turn it off again while you complete the activity.
  • Choose 'make me facilitator' in the top right menu of the Lucid board to gain access to extra features and ensure participants don't accidentally unlock any features of the board.

This workshop ends with concrete next steps and a timeline. Make sure your team has agreed on a way to follow up on the plans you've made! Here are some suggestions on how to make your learnings stick:

  • Create a follow-up plan or set deadlines for checking on your progress
  • Encourage team members to share their progress in 1-on-1s or team meetings
  • Use Slack automated messages to prompt reminders or encourage an ongoing discussion in your team's channel
